At Domus Academy, we can help you become a protagonist in the highly competitive world of fashion and design. Offering one-year master’s courses in a wide variety of design specializations, the school centers around its unique “learning by designing” methodology.
This means you can gain knowledge and practical skills by solving real-life design problems in collaboration with some of the most exciting brands in fashion, product design, interaction design, luxury goods, and more. In workshops, internships, and/or field experiences, you will work directly with companies to address the most contemporary design challenges in fresh and original ways. And you will do so under the guidance of faculty members who are professionals and opinion leaders in their fields.

Learning by Designing
We believe that working on real-world projects is the best way to learn. That’s why 90 percent of our curriculum is practical and applied. You will work on design assignments that replicate today’s professional design practices in an environment supportive of learning and experimentation.

Pre-Master’s Program

The Domus Academy Pre-Master’s program is a four-month intensive postgraduate course where you can boost your knowledge and skills before entering a master’s program. Created for graduates who have a bachelor’s degree, the Pre-Master’s program will give you the essential understanding of design that you need to enter a master’s course at Domus Academy, where you can choose between 12 different programs in the areas of design, fashion, experience, and business. It will also give you the opportunity to create a professional portfolio under the guidance of mentors who are experts in their field.

How to Apply
Domus Academy is a selective school that limits the number of entering students in order to provide them with optimal living and study conditions. Our faculty and Admissions committee carefully consider each candidate’s entire profile, including academic records, work experience (if any), extracurricular activities, test scores, and recommendation letters. Your portfolio and motivation letter are also important elements of your application.

In our Personal Branding class, you will focus on developing your personal identity as a designer, with an eye toward market trends. You will also learn how to write a compelling CV, assemble an excellent portfolio, manage your social media presence, and prepare for job interviews.
At our Career Nights series of events, you can meet key players in the fashion, architecture, and design worlds and participate in job interviews and portfolio reviews.
Through DarwinSquare, companies advertise internships and jobs, while students students and alumni share their CVs and portfolio images. Hosted by Domus Academy and NABA, it is a virtual “square” where students and companies meet.
Professional Experience & Placement
There is no better way for you to gain experience in your field than actually working in it. Domus Academy puts a high value on professional experience, so we have built it into all of our Academic Master’s courses.
During the fifth module of your degree program, you can choose from three different types of professional experiences:

Internship—Develop real design projects and apply skills learned in class while working onsite for a company.

Field learning experience—As a consultant based on campus, you will have the chance to collaborate on an actual company project, supervised by a project leader.

Entrepreneur experience—If you dream of being an entrepreneur, our faculty will mentor you as you develop your business and managerial skills through both theory and practice.
Whichever type of experience you choose, you will be guided and mentored throughout the process. You will have a chance to apply new skills, get an inside perspective on your field, and make valuable industry connections that can further your career.
